Sew What!?, See Fun!, Adult Sewing Make 'n' Mend, Art Attack

Jarra Braidwood studied fashion design and craft at Sallynoggin College of Further Education where she learnt the art of design along with the technical skill of pattern drafting and sewing but she has been sewing since she was a child at her mother's foot pedal-operated singer sewing machine. Jarra has worked backstage at many productions (including Lady Gaga at the O2 /Three arena!) although currently, you are more likely to find her sewing costumes for one of her two girls! She has extensive experience making and designing clothes, costumes and accessories. Jarra has always had a strong sense of needing to reduce our impact on the world and this has given her a passion for repurposing materials, using what we already have or can find around us. She is inspired by the slow fashion movement and would hope to bring as much of this ethos into her teaching as possible. Being able to sew and make her own clothes has most definitely helped her in being more aware of the environmental impact our clothes have on the world and so she would like to pass this awareness on to the next generation of sewers. She believes that sewing can be so empowering,  whether you are creating costumes for a show or just patching up some old jeans and she is very much looking forward to meeting the new generation of designers!
